THE PROJECT

Beyond Desire is a drama short about shame, betrayal and female desire told from a very female perspective. Alia, the lead, is an enigmatic and troubled character. She is in her

mid-twenties, and struggling to find her place in a world of conflicting romances met with shame and power-imbalance, whilst battling to find her voice.

THE DIRECTOR

Vasilisa is a female film-maker originally from Russia; the land of intensity, passion and contradictions. She has created brave and eclectic concepts such as the #Waxchick series which broadcast hyper-sexualised self-portraits onto billboards to generate a dialogue on women's representation in public media and the arts. The Waxchick Film showcased globally at many festivals including the LSFF, East End Film Festival and ICA. Vasilisa’s work borders art and film, having been supported and showcased by the RA, Tate and ICA institutions.  Her recent narrative short Delphyne was self-produced on a shoe-string budget of only £2000 during lockdown and received acclaim at the IWWF festival in Turkey, and showcased on Argo. Delphyne introduces Vasilisa’s theatrical and poetic script-writing style which is inspired by

Russian folklore and story-telling techniques.
