Mette Isaksen (she/her) is a jazz dance teacher, facilitator and dance-for-health specialist, passionate about making dance accessible to everyone. Her teaching is rooted in the belief that everybody has the right to move freely, creatively and confidently, reflected in her inclusive and welcoming approach to working with dancers of all backgrounds, ages and abilities.
Mette holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Dance Leadership and Community Practice from Trinity Laban Conservatoire, where she developed an inclusive model of jazz dance teaching that honours the rich history, culture and artistry of jazz. Her classes connect dancers to the rhythm, dynamics and communal spirit that make jazz dance so distinctive. During her training, she also specialised in dance for wellbeing, shaping her fun-first, empathetic and supportive teaching style.
With over a decade of experience, Mette has taught jazz technique, improvisation, choreography and musical theatre dance to children, students and adults at all levels, from complete beginners to experienced dancers.
Alongside teaching at FieldWorks Dance, Mette delivers dance in community centres and specialist charities, including Mind and Alzheimer’s UK, using movement to support mental health, wellbeing and healthy ageing. She strongly believes in the power of dance to build confidence, foster connection and encourage authentic self-expression.
Outside of teaching, Mette continues to perform as part of authentic jazz troupe Diamond Girls.
